10 Things to protect WA’s environment
- Make sure you are sorting your household waste into the correct bin. You can find a comprehensive guide at Recycle Right WA
- Adopt the REUSE REDUCE RECYCLE principle in your home. Repetition becomes habit.
- If there are household items and clothes you no longer use, donate them to refuges or shelters. There always organisations who can benefit from them!
- Be mindful of how much plastics you use and choose recyclable alternatives. There are many reusable products on the market or ones that will break down faster than some plastics.
- Get involved in Clean up Australia Day, the organisation, Clean Up Australia, inspires and empowers communities to clean up, fix up and conserve our environment. You can start a group in your area!
- Join your local wetlands group and commit to helping when there are clean up events. Even committing for an hour will help reduce the amount of plastics in our waterways!
- Make a list of the cleaning products in your home and aim to replace each one with a toxic-free alternative. You will feel better and so will our waterways.
- Find natural ways of dealing with weeds and gardening issues. It might take longer to remedy, but you can avoid using harmful pesticides and herbicides.
- Things like grounded coffee beans and vegetable peels make for good compost. Speak to your local nursery for more ideas about using your organic waste.
- We all are stewards of our beautiful God given environment. We need to look after it the best we can!
