Maryka Groenewald Responds to Shocking WA Abortion Statistics

Australian Christians Leader, Maryka Groenewald MLC, has today responded with deep concern to disturbing abortion statistics released by the Labor Government in response to her Question on Notice.

“Today we learned that since December 2021, at least eight babies were born alive during abortion procedures and left to die,” said Maryka Groenewald MLC,

“I say ‘at least’ because the Government’s abortion laws mean these cases are no longer reported to the coroner,

“The Government has deliberately stopped collecting data on live births during abortion procedures. That means when a baby is born alive and left to die, the public will never know,

“This is not just a bureaucratic oversight; it is a calculated decision to conceal the consequences of WA’s radical abortion agenda,

“Since 1998, 39 babies have survived abortion attempts, only to be left without life-saving or even palliative care,

“In 2024 alone, 25 abortions were performed on girls under the age of 15, and 781 abortions were performed on girls aged 15 to 19 in that same year,

“We also learned that, since 1998, 1,149 babies were aborted following a Down syndrome diagnosis. That’s 44 babies with Down syndrome killed in the womb every year,

“Killing babies because they have Down syndrome is eugenics, and it should horrify every decent person in Western Australia,

“I am heartbroken by what these numbers reveal, and we can’t turn a blind eye,

“My resolve to speak for the unborn and defend the dignity of every human life has never been stronger,” Groenewald concluded.
