Men in Society

Each month, ACNSW holds a public meeting in Wagga Wagga to promote the work of ACNSW and to hear from a variety of Christian workers, organisations, and ministries.

Our Guest speaker for the month of July was David Croft from the Australian Men’s Shed Association (AMSA). The “Men’s Shed” concept is about fellowship and keeping the Australian male healthy and productive. Although a secular organisation, it shares many of the aims of the church and is attended by many Christian men. David provided a thorough overview of the local Men’s Shed and its multiple activities. These include wood working, metal working, stained glass lighting, recycling, gardening, bee keeping, fermented beverage creation, bike assembly, computing, and even a library. The shed also provides assistance and monetary donations to a range of local charities.

According to the Bible, men are called to lead with humility, love sacrificially, provide for their families, protect the vulnerable, and serve their communities with integrity and self-control (Ephesians 5:25; 1 Timothy 5:8; Micah 6:8). These roles are increasingly challenged by cultural trends that dismiss biblical distinctions between men and women, redefine family structures, and portray traditional male responsibility and leadership as unnecessary or harmful. Christians are called to respond not with dominance, but with Christ-like service, courage, compassion, and faithful stewardship in every sphere of society. Now more than ever, men have a vital role to play in politics, society, and the church.

Pray for our men:

  1. That we would value them
  2. That Australia would recommit to a biblical view of manhood and womanhood
  3. That with God’s help, men would fulfil their roles as leaders with love, humility, and service

"Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. Do everything in love."
– 1 Corinthians 16:13–14
