ACNSW holds public meetings in Wagga Wagga each month.
Their purpose is to promote the work of ACNSW and to hear from a variety of Christian workers,
organisations, and ministries.
Our Guest speakers for the month of June were Steve Cheney and Clarice Mangelsdorf from Kairos Prison Ministry
Australia.
The mission of the Kairos Prison Ministry is to share the transforming love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ to impact the
hearts and lives of incarcerated men, women and youth, as well as their families, to become loving and productive citizens of
their communities.
Steve gave an outline of the courses that are run inside NSW prisons by Kairos, and the impact that they are having on reforming inmates. Clarice spoke about the work of Kairos outside of the prisons, working with the families of those incarcerated and helping them to readjust to life when inmates are finally released.
The NSW Governor has actively encouraged the work of Kairos and extended the length of time that their courses can run. A powerful testimony of how governments and the church can work together to promote positive outcomes for society.
Pray that ACNSW will be a party that:
- Is actively involved in prison reform
- Advocates for an increased Christian ministry presence within NSW prisons
- Partners with Christian organisations and churches that are involved in prison ministry
