Veterans, First Responders, and their families

ACNSW recently held it’s monthly public meeting in Wagga Wagga. These meetings are an opportunity to promote the work of AC NSW and to hear from a variety of Christian workers, organisations, and ministries.

This month’s speaker was Jason Frost, a returned veteran, who presented on the work of the Pro Patria Centre in the Riverina.

The Pro Patria Centre was formerly a monastery. It has been transformed into a multidisciplinary facility focused on developing self-agency in veterans, first responders and their families. Pro Patria aims to restore, regenerate and empower the veteran and first responder community with ongoing support, strategies and skills for life beyond service.

Jason gave a powerful testimony about his experiences and difficulties as a veteran. He also described the hurdles that veterans, first-responders, and their families often face. The Pro Patria Centre is leading the way with a number of tailored and innovative programmes.

There is a need for politicians of all persuasions to be more aware of the issues faced by veterans, and to lead the way with strong policy and tangible solutions.

Pray that ACNSW will be a party that:

1. Acknowledges the trauma experienced by veterans, first responders and their families.

2. Advocates for strong policies and funding to meet their needs

3. Partners with Christian organisations and churches to provide them with tangible support

“The Lord is close to the broken-hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
Psalm 34.18
